Thirty years after the first World Summit for Social Development in Copenhagen (1995), world leaders, civil society, and youth once again gathered; this time in Doha, Qatar, for the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD 2025). The Summit served as a defining moment to renew the global commitment to the three pillars of social progress.
The Doha Summit renewed global political will to make social development (poverty reduction, decent work, inclusion) a central, integrated part of sustainable development. It recognised that previous commitments have not fully delivered, especially in the face of new challenges (climate, digital, conflict).
The main outcome is the Doha Political Declaration, which sets out updated priorities and a call for action; now the real test is implementation, financing, monitoring and translating high-level commitments into tangible change on the ground.
Eco Clean Active Initiative proudly participated as a delegation in the Second World Summit for Social Development held in Doha, Qatar from 4th - 6th Nov, 2025, joining global leaders, development partners, and civil society actors to advance the three pillars of social development which is poverty eradication, full and productive employment and decent work for all, and social inclusion.
Throughout the Summit, our delegation contributed to meaningful dialogues on strengthening social resilience, promoting inclusive economic systems, and aligning social development with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. We were honoured to contribute to these vital discussions; bringing the voices of communities, youth, and grassroots environmental advocates from Nigeria and across Africa to the global stage.

As part of our intervention, we reaffirmed our commitment to grassroots empowerment, particularly through:
๐๐ป Expanding community-based climate livelihood projects;
๐๐ป Promoting green and decent jobs for youth and women;
๐๐ป Advancing inclusive education and environmental justice.
We commend the Summitโs renewed Global Declaration on Social Justice, which calls for collective action, innovation, and solidarity in building equitable and sustainable societies.
At Eco Clean Active Initiative, we remain steadfast in driving social inclusion through environmental sustainability, ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition to a greener and fairer world.
